Ephesus Bouleuterion
Ephesus Bouleuterion was a significant civic building, also known as the Council House. It served as the meeting place for the city’s Boule, or council, which was responsible for making decisions and governing the affairs of the city. This rectangular structure, dating back to the Hellenistic period, had a capacity of around 1,400 people. The Bouleuterion was essential for the administration of Ephesus, reflecting the city’s commitment to democratic principles and civic governance.
